Kid’s Q&A featuring Margot Anthonisen M.S. OTR/L
Welcome to the first installment of our new Kid’s Q&A series. This month, we feature occupational therapist Margot Anthonisen, interviewed by Nico, age 10.
Nico: What do you when I’m not here?
Margot: I have other children that come in and I help them develop things to make life easier for them.
Nico: Do you have any pets?
Margot: I do. I have a dog named Ginger. She’s ginger in color, which is kind of beige. She’s a very good dog.
Nico: How old is she?
Margot: She’s 3 years old.
Nico: Do you have a son or a daughter?
Margot: I have two daughters.
Nico: How old are they?
Margot: I have one that’s 38, and one that’s 39 – about to be 40.
Nico: What’s your favorite place to go?
Margot: That’s hard to answer because there are so many. I like to ride my bike on the towpath.
Nico: What’s the towpath?
Margot: It’s a trail that was used for horses to pull boats down a canal a long time ago.
Nico: But horses can’t swim.
Margot: Actually, they can but the boat was in the water but the horses walked on the path next to the canal and pulled it along using ropes.
Nico: Why didn’t the boat go by itself?
Margot: That’s a good question.
Nico: It’s a lazy boat, and lazy people. Where else do you like to go?
Margot: I love all the parks around Cleveland. It’s called the Emerald Necklace.
Nico: Why did you become a therapist?
Margot: When I was in college I kept changing areas, so I took a test to determine my interests. The test said I was very interested in occupational therapy. I remembered that my mom, who had had polio, had OT when I was a little girl. I love helping people learn new skills to make their lives easier.
